NuMe Ionic Blow Dryer (Review)

Throughout my college years, my hair was short. I'm not quite sure what was in my head at the time when I decided to ultimately chop my long, thick hair into a bob. But, for all four years of undergrad, I kept it above shoulder length.

Fast forward to post graduate years, and I made it into a mission to grow out my hair. Having longer hair is more manageable for me in terms of styling. It's easier to wear it curly or straight. Even if I'm having a bad hair day, an easy fix would be throwing it up in a bun. One thing I dread the most is drying my hair when I wash my hair especially before going to bed.

I needed a blow dryer that'll do the job quick.

NuMe Style's Ionic Hair Dryer only comes in a glossy finish zebra print. For someone who's into animal prints at the moment, I thought that this blow dryer was just so chic. The blowdryer is nicely packaged in a sturdy box with two concentration nozzles of the same size.

Aside from the aesthetic part of the blow dryer, another thing that I noticed was its weight. NuMe Style's Ionic Hair Dryer has some weight into it and is pretty heavy for a hair dryer. It does feel sturdier, but I prefer my hair dryer on the lighter side. However, the hair dryer came with a 9 feet long cord which does gives me the flexibility to move around (which by the way this became really handy when my bathroom plug decided not to work). The silver cover where the fan is located can be easily twisted off for easy cleaning.

The hair dryer comes with three heat settings: 1 being the coldest (or no heat), 2 is the warm, and 3 being the hottest setting. For the fan speed, it has two settings. I usually dry my hair with the hottest and fastest setting since I'm always either in a hurry in the morning or I just don't want to spend too much time drying my hair when I'm already half asleep at night.

In order to test whether this hair dryer will in fact cut my drying time, I decided to time my hair drying using another hair dryer on a different night. With my long, thick hair, using my old dryer, it usually takes me about five to eight minutes to dry my hair. Whereas while using NuMe Style's Ionic Hair Dryer, it only took me about four minutes tops. I was pretty impressed since I've always want to cut my hair drying time. But because of the blow dryer's power, the motor can be pretty loud. The results of the blow out was pretty impressive. My hair was nice and shiny and soft to touch. I also noticed that my hair stayed voluminous for the whole day. I've been using the hair dryer everyday and my hair hasn't been fried to death especially since it's color treated.

Final Thoughts: I really like how the dryer cuts my drying time significantly. I've always used a cheap dryer since it does get the job done. But I do notice the difference when I'm drying my hair using NuMe's Ionic Blow Dryer. My hair feels much silkier and there is less frizz. I can also forgo using a straightening iron as this blow dryer dries my hair straight. However, one thing I don't like about it is how heavy the blow dryer is. If you have longer and thicker hair than I do, you'd probably end up working out your arms. And also, I'm not sure why the nozzles were the same kind. You are also paying a steeper price for a blow dryer, so it would have been slightly better if there was a different option for the nozzle.

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5

  3. As a licensed cosmetologist, the hair dryer being heavier is a good thing! It may work out your arms, but it has a bigger and better motor and that's why your dry time is cut in half. :]
