Dash of Pink

Joe Fresh sweater (on sale for only $10!) / Black skinny pants / Armani Exchange jacket (similar) / Nordstrom scarf / Forever 21 beanie / Uniqlo socks / Nike sneakers / Balenciaga bag

Did you remember when I colored my hair pink before ringing in the New Year? It seemed like forever ago, but I decided to color my hair pink for 2016. I've always wanted to try pink hair but I couldn't do it since I worked at a conservative environment. So because it was the new year and new adventures, I figured why not just do it. It'll wash off it I don't like it.

Surprisingly, after dying my hair pink, it gave me a boost of confidence. It's funny how a little change can make such an impact. For some reason, it almost like having my hair pink was a slightly different me. I had a different attitude, and I suddenly had a different outlook on life. I don't know if it was just the dye getting into my pores or something, but it was a good thing.

For this outfit, my hair is part of the accessory. The pink stands out and brightens up my monochromatic look. It also slightly matches my socks :). By the way, these socks were amazing when it was freezing cold outside. They definitely kept my toes warm. I can't really speak too much about being cold when we've been getting spring weather lately, but I'm a California girl. Anything below 50°F is cold by standard.

Light Trench Coat

I'm still feeling under the weather, but thank you for the suggestions on my latest Instagram post for home remedies for a sore throat and well wishes. I'm feeling a little better now, but still a little congested.

Here's how I'd style a light draped trench jacket for spring with a faux leather skirt and a long sleeve cropped top. I really like how this trench jacket is light-weight with a loosely drapes on my body. It's a very versatile piece to wear on it's own or layered.

Sick Day

Hello! This post is going to be short since I barely woke-up from my third nap of the day (and it's only 1 in the afternoon). I've been just spending so much time with my bed last night and today. It's kind of a bummer being sick especially since 80 something degrees outside right now. I almost just want to power through and hang outside, but my throat is killing me.

Aside from my frequent naps, I've been drinking plenty of hot tea which is some what helping my throat. I just feel a little helpless and useless when I'm sick. Because when I'm sick, I'm out of commission for awhile. And it doesn't help when the weather is beautiful outside.
So this is probably not the ideal outfit in this weather right now, but if you're sick like me, all I really want to do is bundle up. Despite the 80 something degree weather outside, I'm a little chilly. So it's nice to have a long cardigan with a hood on so I can just snuggle with it.

Anyway, I hope you're enjoying President's Day if you have it off today. And if you're in LA, I hope you're taking advantage of this gorgeous, summer weather in February. I'm going to have to go to bed again in a bit to sleep off this sore throat.

Sequined Blazer

GAP sequined blazer / James Perse t-shirt / Rich & Skinny jeans (similar, 25% off with code PRES) / Vans slip-on (currently marked down 40% off)

Here's one of things that I found recently in my closet. I almost forgot about this pretty blush-toned sequined blazer, so I decided to bring it back for an outfit post. However, this sparkly blazer is currently up for grabs and listed on Poshmark for anyone who is interested. Since this is such a sparkly piece, I wanted to dress it down a little bit by pairing it with super soft tee, my distressed boyfriend jeans, and my Vans slip-on.

I like how this blazer is very light-weight and I can easily throw it on if I want to look a little more put together even though the rest really isn't.

Sometimes you just have to find out creative ways to make a piece in your closet versatile. Just because it looks like it should only be worn for a certain occasion doesn't mean you should only wear it for that certain occasion. But with that said, I almost completely forgot I even had this number until I recently purged my closet. One of my goal this year is to get a better handle of what I have in my closet.

Like I mentioned earlier, this blazer is up for grabs on Poshmark for anyone who is interested. It's in a size small and it has a loose baggy fit. Since I've been on a mission to down-size my closet, I'm currently letting go of pieces that I've only worn a handful of times (but are in almost new or excellent condition). Check out the rest my closet to see what else I have listed!

Hope you all have a nice Valentine's/Galentine's/Single Awareness Day tomorrrow... however you're celebrating it.

NYX Cosmetics Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks (Review & Swatches)

As promised from my last beauty post, a product review! If you haven't seen my latest video yet, I did a first impressions and swatch video on these NYX Cosmetics Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks. You can watch my reactions as I apply these liquid lipstick one by one for the first time. This is a more in depth review after I've worn and tried it out for a few days. I'm also providing photos of me wearing these liquid lipsticks on this post (so you can see how they photograph as well).

Before I begin, I also just want to mention that I almost forgot how much time it takes to draft a product review (from taking photos, writing this post, etc.), especially if it involves swatches. I quickly realized this as soon as I started working in this post. It's been awhile since I've done a beauty product review, but after working this one out, I think I figured out a method. But, it made me appreciate other beauty bloggers who does this on the daily. I mean, just swatching 12 different lip colors was a feat itself.

Closet Edit

In my previous post, I mentioned that I recently did a closet edit. For awhile now, I've been wanting to just go through my clothes and only keep the ones I'm still going to wear. I have also been good and haven't really shopped since my Black Friday and Winter Haul (which was about three months ago!). I just wanted to make sure that the things in my closet are still something I still love and will wear before having any more additions. Whatever didn't make the cut will be donated or listed on Poshmark.
One of my latest closet finds is this fuzzy, cropped sweater. I remember getting this sweater because I wanted a cropped sweater for layering. Sometimes, my closet is like a pandora box. I never know what I'll find. I've always though this sweater was cute, but like some of my clothing pieces, it gets lost in the pile. It really helps to go through your whole closet because you actually see what you might have forgotten. It's almost like coming home with new pieces from a shopping trip.

Over-the-Knee Boots

Target tunic sweater  (on clearance for $20) / Paige denim coated pants / Sam Edelman OTK boots / Dogeared necklace (one of my favorite things) / Baublebar statement necklace (on sale for $32 - limited time) / Sole Society hat (40% off) / Urban Outfitters rings

So it seems like the days are getting warmer here in LA. Last Sunday, during the Super Bowl, was probably the first time I wore shorts in the winter. It was nice to get a little taste of spring in the middle of winter and get a break in between freezing temperatures.
I still welcome the cold weather especially on the days where the temperature dips down to the low 50s. And like I mentioned in my previous post, I love it even more when it rains.
Ever since I got these Sam Edelman 'Kayla' boots during Black Friday, I reached out for these boots whenever I could. I've always had my eye on these Stuart Weitzman boots, but these Sam Edelman were the closest dupe I could get for now while I save up for the Stuart Weitzman :). They're very similar in looks, but the Sam Edelman are obviously a fraction of the price.

Save It for a Rainy Day

Breton stripe shirt / J. Crew skinny jeans (similar - only less than $50) / Thread & Supply peacoat (currently 50% off, available in 4 colors) / Zara scarf  (similar, available in 3 colors)/ Hunter rain boots (wearing Big Kids, this version is 33% off) / Proenza Schouler PS1 bag

We finally experienced torrential down pour for the most part of the day on Sunday. I was really excited about this for these reasons: a) We're experiencing serious drought, and any sort of precipitation is welcome. b) I loooove driving in the rain. c) I get to wear my Hunter rain boots and step through puddles with no problem.
For reference, I'm wearing the Hunter rain boots for big kids. I'm a size 6 in women's sizing, but I found that the big kids boots were a good fit for me. I also want to pick up their Original Tour Gloss boots (in women sizing) at some point since it's a more travel friendly pair because you can easily pack it in your suitcase. They're also available in 6 colors, and at this point, I don't know which color I can commit to yet. I'm eyeing on either one of the red pair. And maybe I should wait until El Niño is in full swing here in LA.

I've only worn my Hunter boots a handful of times. Any chance I can wear them, I'll take it. I find it oddly satisfying knowing that my shoes are meant to get wet. I've also worn them previously during my trip to Mammoth Mountain (watch my vlog). Could you imagine the joy on my face when I walked down the streets while it was snowing... and my feet were warm and dry? Oh, the simple things.

Or maybe it has something to do with my childhood. I lived in a tropical place where monsoons were a regular thing, yet I didn't own a pair of rain boots. And, I'm just realized this right now as I was typing this post. I lived in a country where it was wet for half a year, but no rain boots. Am I just now compensating for not having rain boots in my life (when I needed it the most) that I now own a pair, yet I'm living in the driest part of the country? Anyway, I've been enjoying every chance that I get to wear them.
