Denim Shift

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Denim Shift Dress

It may not look like it, but deep down I'm excited that I finally found a cute denim shift dress. This dress didn't make it in any of the haul videos that posted recently since I had to wait for this to get shipped to my house for quite some time. I've been on a lookout for one for awhile now and this also happens to be on sale! Not to mention, I'm always down for dresses with pockets. And how cute is the fringe detail on the edges of the dress? I had to pull my fringe booties out to keep a fringe theme going.

I decided to keep it simple for the day since I was just hanging out with my friend. I wanted the focus to be on the actual dress so I kept the accessories to a minimum. This bag from Sole Society came in handy to stuff all my belongings with the things I bought that day. I love how roomy this tote is and how it's a great everyday bag when you're going in between places.

There's only five days left to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Once August 8 comes around, the prices go back up (and I'll stop talking about it :P)! I know that's all I seem to be talking about lately these days, but it's one of my favorite shopping "holiday" (aside from Black Friday and Christmas shopping). There are just so many brand-new arrivals on sale right now to get you ready for fall, and I wouldn't want you to miss out on the great prices. Most of the items that I purchased can easily transition from summer to fall, and I've been wearing most of the things that recently bought. If you haven't checked-out my YouTube channel yet, I actually just posted a lookbook video wearing some of the pieces from my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Haul.

June Gloom

Daftbird knit dolman top
Grey dolman top / Paige black skinnies / Denim jacket (similar from GAP) / Forever 21 choker necklace (similar here and here) / Baublebar necklace (similar here and here) / Birkenstock sandals / Zara bucket bag (old, similar) / Wildfox sunglasses

I have a thing for color coordinating with the weather sometimes. In my last post, I rocked my favorite yellow Equipment top. Lately, we've been experiencing some heavy June gloom (and with some light sprinkle) even though it's almost summer in a few days. So the layering continues, and I find myself grabbing my denim jacket lately for those light chilly days/nights. I won't even deny that it's one of my staple items in my closet now.

Even though I've been accessorizing my outfits with faux suede choker necklaces lately (see my DIY here), I like to switch it up with a gold choker necklace once in awhile and layer it with a Y-neck necklace. I think it makes a balanced pairing with the metallic choker necklace being more on the edgy side as the Y-neck necklace drapes delicately with it.

If I'm not wearing my denim jacket with light spring/summery dresses, I like to pair it with a more monochromatic outfit like this one. There's just something cool draping over a light wash denim vest over a simple outfit. It's perfect for days when you're on the go and need to run a few errands or maybe just spending a Sunday strolling around your local farmer's market. And you know that the Birkenstocks are back at it again. I love wearing them with these black skinny pants. See this combo as another outfit here.

Biker Cool

The weather has been a little deceiving lately. I would peek out the window and see that the sun out thinking that it would be nice and warm. But once I leave out the door, it's actually pretty chilly. The struggle.

Layering is key when it comes to unpredictable weather. I've layered my Topshop sleeveless top underneath this t-shirt dress. Not only that it keeps my body warm, but it changes the look of the t-shirt dress with the high neck of the top peeking out of the neckline of the dress. It's almost like having another dress. I've been playing around with different ways to mix and match my current wardrobe.

My OTK boots still allows me to flash a little bit of my legs without freezing my butt off. I love pairing these boots with a dress for spring. Keeps the leggies warm, but not hot enough that I'll be sweating wearing them.

Olive Skirt

Marbled sweater
Joe Fresh sweater (another great option) / Vintage midi skirt (similar) / Zara boots (buy similar) / Baublebar earrings

Happy St. Patrick's Day to those who celebrate! ASOS is currently celebrating with a 20% off discount on all full-priced items until 8 am March 18 with the code: CLOVER4. And to get into the spirit of the day, I wanted to share this olive pleated midi-skirt that I found in my closet. I almost forgot that I even had this skirt until I took everything out of my closet during the purge. The things you can find when you just clean your room. It's basically a treasure hunt. I thought that the only green item I have were my utility jackets .

Midi pleated Skirt Outfit idea

I got this skirt a few years ago during a thrift shopping trip. I did a little bit digging (aka internet research) about the brand in the tag since I've never heard of it. The brand is called Paul Stanley. However, the first thing that popped up was the guitarist from the band KISS, which I doubt had a line of women's clothing back in the day.  I didn't really find that much information about the brand, so I guess they have been long gone since there's not that much information about them online.

How to wear a sweater and skirt together

I was mainly drawn to the silhouette and quality of the skirt. The skirt has a very 1930's vibe to it, and I really liked the pleated detail on the hem. For some reason, I like how it's not a super feminine looking skirt. Not to mention, the tag also said petite in it, and the fit was perfect from waist to length.

High-heel Chelsea Boots

Since midi skirts can look awkward sometimes, especially for someone petite like me, I decided to style it with a pair of high heeled mid-length boots.

I kept the accessory very minimal to a pair of statement earrings from Baublebar to keep it simple yet still put together. I've been obsessed how these earrings can dress up or elevate an outfit. The earrings that I'm wearing in this post are already sold out, but here are similar styles that will glam up your outfit:

Back At It Again with the Over-the-Knee Boots

Winter outfit style
Topshop fuzzy sweater (similar, on sale for $12) / Denim jacket (baggier fit here) / Paige Denim pants (similar) / Sam Edelman OTK boots (in taupe) / Sole Society hatBaublebar necklace (40% off, limited time) / Balenciaga bag

Even though I've been making frequent to trips to the beach lately, it's still a bit nippy here in LA. It's even trickier when the sun is out and there are no clouds in sight. You think you're getting summer weather, but in reality it's all an illusion and it's windy and chilly outside. So layering has been key lately.

On days when it hovers around low the mid 60s to low 70s in the daytime, I usually opt for a pull-over or sweater. I usually bring a jacket with me in the daytime just in case my day ends up carrying over the nighttime. I wouldn't want to be caught out in the cold. A sweater/sweatshirt and jacket combination usually is enough for me to keep me warm when it's around the low 60s here in LA.

Another way for me to layer and stay warm is by pairing my pants with my over-the-knee high boots. I guess I really like pairing these burgundy pants with my over-the-knee high boots as seen in my last post. Oh, and I guess I really like the hat with it too. Anyway, I've been really trying to get the most wear out of these boots before it gets warmer again. Besides, who doesn't want the illusion of long legs especially for a petite girl like me!

Double Denim

double denim outfit ideas

I'm finally back in town. Back from a much needed vacation. I was really excited when my friend Heart asked me to accompany her to Maui, HI with Benefit Cosmetics. It was such an amazing experience, and I can't thank her enough for thinking of me and letting me accompany her on this trip. We had so much fun during the trip, and it was definitely another one for the books. This was our first tropical destination together, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

Over-the-Knee Boots

Target tunic sweater  (on clearance for $20) / Paige denim coated pants / Sam Edelman OTK boots / Dogeared necklace (one of my favorite things) / Baublebar statement necklace (on sale for $32 - limited time) / Sole Society hat (40% off) / Urban Outfitters rings

So it seems like the days are getting warmer here in LA. Last Sunday, during the Super Bowl, was probably the first time I wore shorts in the winter. It was nice to get a little taste of spring in the middle of winter and get a break in between freezing temperatures.
I still welcome the cold weather especially on the days where the temperature dips down to the low 50s. And like I mentioned in my previous post, I love it even more when it rains.
Ever since I got these Sam Edelman 'Kayla' boots during Black Friday, I reached out for these boots whenever I could. I've always had my eye on these Stuart Weitzman boots, but these Sam Edelman were the closest dupe I could get for now while I save up for the Stuart Weitzman :). They're very similar in looks, but the Sam Edelman are obviously a fraction of the price.
