Blacked Out

Top (similar here and here) / Zara skirt (old, other cute alternatives here and here) / Faux leather moto jacket (my most recent purchase) / Block heel boots (similar here, here, and more options listed below) / Chanel boy bag (cheaper alternative here)

If you haven't been watching my Youtube channel lately or haven't caught up on reading my posts, I have been in the process of decluttering and editing my closet. Several trips to Goodwill/Buffalo Exchange/Crossroads later, I decided that I needed a break from the madness. While that's on hold for now, I've recently moved on to painting my second bedroom and turning it into my office.

Button Me Up

Zara lace sleeve top (similar) / H&M Button down skirt (similar) / Platform wedge sandals (similar - only size 5.5 and 6 available) / Karen Walker sunglasses / Chanel WOC

One of the things that excites me when something in my closet has carried over two seasons since I last bought it. This skirt might look familiar since I've styled this in my fall lookbook video last year. I like knowing that my shopping skills have improved over the years, and that I'm not just picking out super trendy pieces that will only last one season. When I'm shopping for clothes, I always ask myself: 1) if I can put together at least three different outfits with my existing wardrobe, and 2) if I can wear this for more than one season.

Grey Boucle Coat

Mesh boxy shirt / Grey boucle coat (similar) / Paige Denim Jeans / Vans slip-ons / Daniel Wellington watch / Quay Australia sunglasses / Chanel WOC

This coat has been getting plenty of use from me lately. It gives me the Alexa Chung vibes (girl crush) which is probably why I picked it up in the first place. I've also been in the grey mood lately which also explains the grey pants (last seen on this post)

In other news, I decided to participate in vlogmas this year where I'll try to vlog everyday until Christmas day. It's definitely going to be a challenge, but I'm up for it. I can't promise that every single content will be always interesting since it'll involve some of the mundane, regular parts of my life. I already posted my first vlogmas video yesterday, and I'm so glad about the positive feedback and support that I'm getting from it. I hope you'll tune in!

Current Favorite: Oatmeal Sweater and Coated Skinnies

H&M v-neck sweater (available in 2 colors)  / Paige Denim skinnies / Birkenstock sandals / Quay Australia sunglasses / Chanel WOC

This v-neck sweater has been easily my favorite lately. I picked it up in an x-small, and fit is still a bit loose which I really liked because it looks much more relaxed. I love the slightly deep v-neck and the color of the sweater. Sadly, this color is not available online, but it does come in two other colors (and it's on sale for $9.99). The v-neck is not too deep and it's the perfect neckline for layer your necklaces. I'm also thinking about picking up another v-neck rib-knit sweater (similar to what I'm wearing right now) just to have for winter. It seems like this will be my lazy winter uniform this year.
I've been really into neutral palettes lately, and one of my favorite combinations right now is anything cream/tan and black. It's my go-to combination when I'm in a hurry and I just need to get dressed. I really like how the texture of this sweater pairs up nicely with these coated Paige Denim skinnies, which are also my favorite pair of pants right now. You might have noticed that I'm wearing these pants again since I just featured them in my last post. And because I ended up loving these, I picked another pair up of Paige Denim in grey and another coated moto-style skinny jeans recently.

Anyway, in a non-outfit matter, I'm in the process (again, I feel like it never ends) of cleaning out my room before the year-ends. I want to only keep what I need and will be using right now and toss what I haven't touched. My problem is that I tend to hold on to things. You know just in case.

However, ever since I picked up Do Less in the beginning of the year, I've had this itch of simplifying my life a little bit more. After I finished reading that book, I picked up, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, a few months later in the hopes of getting started with organizing and tidying up my place. Well, I'd like to report that I haven't started on the book, and that my closet is still cluttered. I'm making it my goal right now is to at least read a few chapters this Thanksgiving break. Hopefully by then, I'll be able to list some things on Poshmark so that my unused items can find a new and loving home.

Please share if you have any organization or decluttering techniques on the comments below.

In Stripes

How to style leather skirt
James Perse shirt / H&M skirt (old) / Bralette / Converse shoes / Wildfox sunglasses (similar) / Dogeared necklaces (layered) / Chanel boy bag

Some days, you just want a no fuss, no brainer outfit. Something just to get you out of the door quickly, while still looking put together. Knowing your closet and having your no nonsense essential clothing items help on days when you're feeling a little stumped with what to wear.

A striped tee is a staple in my closet. I really like this James Perse shirt that I found at my Nordstrom Rack because of the deep V-neckline. It's even cuter when worn with a lace bralette (this one is super cute too) underneath just slightly peeking through.

I've paired my V-neck shirt (I also like this shirt) with a moto faux leather skirt to for an edgy look. In this outfit, I love how the skirt plays as the feminine touch to a slightly tomboy-ish outfit.

And with the latest sneaker trend still going on strong, I'm staring to dig out more of my sneakers out of their boxes and incorporate them with more of my outfits. I'm really liking the whole very feminine and flirty while still being comfortable and a bit boy-ish look. It's really all about how you mix and match your pieces together. So, why not have it work for your comfort.

Side note, I recently just discovered the amazing selection of Dogeared necklaces available at Nordstrom Rack! I have a few dainty necklaces from the brand, and I'm really excited to find that they're over 50% off retail at Nordstrom Rack. I usually wear them alone, but I also like layering them together. Below are some of my favorites:

Silk Tee and Laced Skirt

J. Crew top (old, similar) / Zara skirt (similar) / Dogeared necklace / Vans sneakers / Chanel boy bag

I'm currently in the process of cleaning out my closet, and I'm also rediscovering certain pieces that I haven't worn in a while as go through it. This shirt might look familiar to you since I've worn it in this post, and this skirt was featured on this post.

What I've also been wearing frequently lately are my old sneakers. For some reason, wearing sneakers reminds me of high school since that's all I would wear at the time. I mean can you just imagine walking to your next class in heels? Not that practical. I still had some of my old sneaker collection at my parents' house, so I decided to bring those back in the rotation as well.

Do you have any old clothing items that's making a come back in your wardrobe?

Suede Shorts

Chanel Wallet on Chain Ro & De top (similar) / Forever 21 shorts (similar) / Zara boots (old, similar) / Chanel WOC

August has officially passed, and fall is around the corner. One of the pieces in my closet that will transition in the fall are these suede shorts that I bought for Coachella earlier this year. Since LA doesn't really get fall season like the east coast does, wearing these shorts won't be an issue.

As I browse around the mall or look around online, I noticed that anything suede goes for this fall season. So I'm glad that these shorts will make through another season.

Faux Romper

Ro & De top / Brandy Melville shorts (similar) / Zara shoes (similar) / Chanel WOC / Daniel Wellington watch

As I've mentioned in my previous post, I love the ease of dressing up in a romper, but not so much when it comes to bathroom time. So when I figured out that two items in my closet combined together creates an illusion of wearing a romper, I was all about it. It doesn't get easier than that.

Due to the backlog of outfit pictures that I've had for quite some time, my short hair is just making it's first appearance on my blog. I've always thought that I would never cut my hair this short ever again ever since I made a promise to myself that I will never cut my hair this short back in 2008. And here I am in 2014, thinking about going even shorter. But I think I'll stick to this length for now.

I made the decision of going shorter on the eve of my birthday. I'd say that it was more of an impulse decision. I booked my hair cut appointment the same day and rushed to my stylist after work. I'll even say this was actually an accident because I wasn't expecting her to cut this much off my hair! But I ended up loving it in the end and thought that this was probably the change that I needed.

Leather+Lace

Zara leather top (similar) & skirt (similar) & shoes / Chanel boy bag / Daniel Wellington watch / Flash Tattoos

Still have some backlog outfit pictures with my long hair, so it'll be awhile until my short hair makes an appearance on the blog. I have to admit that I start to miss my long hair when I see old pictures, but I was itching of a change. And my hair had to go.
