Swatches: MAC Wonder Woman Collection

Yesterday, Vanessa (NessasaryMakeup) invited me to go with her to MAC's Wonder Woman release party. I haven't been to a release party in awhile. The last one was probably... I don't even remember when was the last time I've been to a MAC store. With the kajillion collection they seem to come out with every year, it was just difficult for me to keep up.

Off I went to the party still since it gave me a chance to catch up with Vanessa. It was just like the good old swatching days.

Going into the release party, I haven't really checked out any swatches that was available online. I've seen the packaging and it really didn't appeal to me too much. Although I like Wonder Woman as a character, the packaging for this collection reminded me of kid's makeup. So, I passed up on this collection completely and left the store empty-handed. Well, I walked out with swatches on my arms.

Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box Look #3: Easy Playful Look

Yes, I'm back with a beauty related post. Here's a look that I've been meaning to edit since forever (previously recorded back in AUGUST)! I actually have another video pending to be edited so we'll see if I'll be able to get on that too. I actually had the chance today to edit my video only because I am sick and stuck at home. I swear I have an immune system of a 90 year old. I get so sick easily. Anyway, oddly enough editing videos are a bit therapeutic to me.

So here I am again today using the same palette. This is look number three using the Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box. I'm really trying to maximize the use of this palette as you can see (click here and here for the previous looks).

Pencil, Gel, and Liquid: Which Eyeliner Do You Use?

Prior to my discovery of beauty blogs, I've always been a pencil eyeliner gal. I've always found it the easiest and most convenient to apply. Although, I made the biggest crime in beauty by tugging and pulling my eyelids to get that nice and clean line on my upper lashes, but now I know better to avoid doing that... ever... no matter how much of in a hurry I am.

Eyeliner is an eyeliner right? Maybe, but then it all depends on the look you're trying to achieve. Maybe some of us are a little more simpler when it comes to makeup that either a pencil, gel, or liquid will be suffice in one's makeup bag. Not in my case.  These days I find myself using three different eyeliners. It may be two at the time or just one kind by itself. Whether it be out of convenience or depending on my mood or look I'm going for, there's always still a reason for me to reach out for all three of them. I thought having more than one type of eyeliner is ridiculous, but they do serve their purpose.

Pencil Eyeliners

It's the basic little black dress of makeup. Looking a little dead or tired? Slap this baby on your face and it can make a difference in the world. Pencil eyeliner is what got me started with makeup. A little effort of lining my waterline and I look awake almost instantly.

Pencil eyeliners are great for lining your waterline or using it to create a smokey eye by lining your upper lashline and then smudging it. My favorite pencil eyeliner of all-time will have to be MUFE Aqua Eyes in 0L. It stays put in my waterline with minimal to zero smudges at the end of the day and it easily glides on my eyelids without tugging it.

However, since I do have oily-lids, I'm not a big fan of pencil liners when it comes to lining my upper lashline (not unless I'm using it for a smokey look). It'll start to get messy at the end of the day as the liner travels up to my crease even after applying primer on my lids. It's also more challenging to get a sharper or defined line with a pencil eyeliner not unless it has just been sharpened. It's not as cost effective though if I have to keep sharpening it. So if I want a more precise line, I either reach out for my gel or liquid eyeliners.

Gel Liners

Gel liners are excellent for people with oily lids. Gel liners have a better staying power than pencil eyeliners and are pretty easy to apply. It's also easier to adjust thickness of your eyeliner depending on the brush you use. The best eyeliner brush would probably be an angled eyeliner brush since it gives you better control in lining your eyelids and it gets really close to your lashline while giving you a precise line that you want without ever having to tug your eyelids.

What's good about gel eyeliners is that it has the look of a pencil which is a little more natural but with the precision you can get with liquid eyeliners. It's great for creating a catline. Excellent for long nights when you're dancing your butt off since it has awesome staying power. My biggest gripe about gel liners is having to cary a separate brush for it. You won't be able to easily stow this away in your purse if you need to touch-up.

Gel liners are also good your lower lids but not your waterline. Use this on your waterline and you'll see it gone within minutes. But, I've also found that using gel liner is a good practice if you want to transition into using a liquid liner. My favorite gel liner is MAC in Blacktrack.

Liquid Eyeliners

Liquid eyeliners are probably the most difficult to work with out of the three if you don't have a steady hand or you're just not use to it. There is very little room for error when using this since the liner dries almost instantly and it's a quite difficult to fix once it's on your lids. But, it gives the most dramatic and defined line which makes this your best bet when creating a catline.

I've always shyed away from liquid liners because they were pretty intimidating. It wasn't until recently when my love for it grew exponentially since I've been rocking out catlines almost everyday. Sometimes when you're just in a hurry... all I really need on my face to look a bit fixed up is eyeliner. Liquid eyeliners takes a lot of practice in some getting used to, but once you knock that down, you might be reaching out for this more often.

Since liquid liners can be really dramatic on your eyes which is excellent for nighttime looks, it might look a little too strong during the daytime.

My favorite liquid liner is Revlon ColorStay liquid liner. It's inexpensive but it does the job and lasts the whole day without smudging.

See what I mean about owning multiple eyeliners? They do serve their own purpose. Which eyeliner do you frequently use?

Top 10 Products I Can't Live Without

If these companies ever stop production on any of these items, I know all hell will break lose! Why would they discontinue such amazing product anyway? Here are my current top ten products that I'm just currently in love with (in alphabetical order).

1. Eyeko 3 in 1 Cream: The best highlighter in the world. I would choose this over NARS Coppacabana any time of the day for my highlighting needs. It's inexpensive. It's not insanely shimmery. And, most of all, it's easy to apply and blend on your cheeks. And it doesn't hurt that the packaging is so cute! It's definitely a face saver when you want to fake an awake look (Buy it here and Enter Code E122 for a free gift).

2. MAC Blacktrack Fluidline: My favorite eyeliner for my upper lashline whether it be a thin line or a cat eye. With or without a base underneath, fluidline doesn't crease on my oily eyelids like most eyeliners do. It's better than liquid eyeliner in my opinion.

3. MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot: The base of my choice. It keeps it from creasing and my eye makeup pretty. Nothing is worse than an eye makeup being salvaged by oily lids.

4. Mandom Cleansing Express Cleansing Lotion: Like I have mentioned before, I could've sworn these are unicorn tears in a bottle. This makeup remover will wipe your makeup clean off your face with two pumps. It's amazing what this product can do. I especially love this stuff on my "lazy" nights where just getting to the sink to was your face is an impossible mission. It will get you in bed as soon as possible (Buy it here).

5. NARS Lip Gloss, Rose Gitane:
My favorite lipgloss shade! Can give you a that stain effect look, or just lick, lick juicy lips. It looks dark on the tube but it's perfect on my lips.

6. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque: This literally saves my face from breakouts. Breakouts don't stand a chance with this mask. It's the cheapest yet most effective mask that I ever bought in my life. It really does what it promises to do, and this is one of the products that has definitely brought my face back to clearer state.

7. shu uemura Brightening Cleansing Oil 15.2 oz: Great cleanser for oily skin. Picks up any dirt or makeup debris and give you a clean and squeaky feeling without the tight and dry feeling.

8. shu uemura Eyelash Curler ($19): It's practically the holy grail eyelash curler of everyone in the beauty community. The only eyelas curler that didn't seem such a torture device. Self-explanatory why this made the list.

9. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, Zero: My kohl eyeliner of choice for my lower lashline or waterline. It doesn't smudge or budge. It stays put the whole day until you have to take it off. The pencil is super soft that it glides during application, and won't tug your eyes

10. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream 2.75 oz Jar ($24): Despite of the camphor smell (aka Vick's Vapor Rub smell), this works wonders on dry and chapped skin. It moisturizes your had without the greasy feeling, and only leaves it nice and smooth. It doubles as a lip balm as well and it really moisturizes your lips.

What makes up your list?

Overall: The whole collection was ok. I only picked up a couple of items that I thought I didn't have yet. I got the Redhead MSF and Pincurl eyeshadow. Most of they eyeshadows were dupable from my opinion especially if you already have Sumptious Olive or Mink & Sable (Starflash) which almost similar to Henna. Flip, however, is gorgeous, but I already own too many variations of gold eyeshadows. You can pass up on Deep Shade if you already have Deep Truth while 100 Strokes looks like Expensive Pink except the latter is a bit more orange.
Femme-Fi is a repromote color from Neo-Sci Fi, so if you missed out on that color pick it up because it makes an excellent highlight color (or you can go to your nearest CCO and hunt the Neo-Sci Fi version of that).

As for the Mineralized Skinfinishes, I actually liked the Blonde MSF, but I feel like it's like any other pink blush once it goes on your cheeks. I chose the Redhead MSF because it can make a great highlight and would pair up nicely with a bronzer to give you that California glow. This collection's Mineralized Skinfinishes (MSFs) were a bit different from your usual swirled MSFs since it has four splits of color you can either use different ways or make your combination or use it all together. It's almost like a bigger version of the eyeshadows from the Red She Said collection, except in blush form.

The collection is also now available online at maccosmetics.com.

FOTD: Dior Earth Reflection Palette

Here's a quick FOTD using the Dior Earth Reflection palette. Review coming up soon!

EYES
Dior Earth Reflection Palette

CHEEKS
Paul & Joe #12 Face Color

LIPS
Bobbi Brown Brown Sugar Shimmer shimmer liptint

For the eyes, I swept the soft gold eyeshadow in my inner part of the lid, and applied bronze next to it blending the colors together. I applied the dark brown color to my crease and outer v to give my eyes more definition. And then, I highlighted my browbone with the golden pearl eyeshadow.

I hope you guys haven't missed me too much yet xP. By this time it's either I'm still on the plane or have landed to Narita Airport in Japan waiting for my connecting flight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have time to shop at the Duty Free stores there and get my hands on some Japanese makeup *squeals*
