Product Review: PureLuxe Soothing Calamine Facial Bar

Alongside my Ly-Na Pearl Cream, PureLuxe Calamine bar was a major part of my skin regimen during my acne days.

What they say about it: This soap is excellent for troubled skin. Full of beneficial ingredients all designed to aid and soothe. Made with premium oils such Shea Butter and Emu Oil. Calamine powder (zinc oxide & iron oxide) for its soothing effect, chamomile and hibiscus for soothing anti-inflammatory properties and mild astringency, rose geranium essential oil to help balance sebum and to keep skin supple. Tea tree essential oil for its anti-bacterial and anti-acneic effects, and chamomile essential oil to help soothe irritated skin.

Ingredients: olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, water, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, calamine powder, ricinus communis (castor) oil, bytospermum parkii (shea) butter, sodium hydroxide, emu oil, matricaria recutita (chamomile), hibiscus sabdariffa (hisiscus flower), anthemis nobilis oil (chamomile essential oil), melaleuca alternifolia oil (tea tree essential oil), pelargonium roseum asperum oil (rose geranium essential oil), sodium lactate, silk fiber

What I like about it: PureLuxe's Calamine Facial Bar was very gentle on my skin. It never left my skin feeling dry unlike some other facial cleansers do. It only left my skin clean and refreshed with each use.

When I heard about this wonder soap, I was a bit skeptical how it claims that it helps troubled skin (i.e. acne). But much to my curiousity, I went ahead and bought a sample of it for a dollar. Since then, I was very impressed. This soap did wonders on my skin within a couple of weeks. Prior to this soap, my face was probably not in the best shape it could've been. I had major acne problems (don't believe me? click here).

The soap really cleanses my face (squeeky clean) without stripping away oil that can leave my face dry. I use this soap to wash my face day and night. It also has kept my breakouts to a minimum or none, and has gotten rid of the pimples on my cheeks that I thought would not go away (ever). The soap also has helped control oil production, in my opinion, that I started noticing my face isn't as oily as it was before.

I also love how it smells. It has that light, fresh smell.

This soap and my Ly-na cream were definitely responsible in getting my skin better.

What I don't like about it: I don't like how it is in soap form. It can be unhygenic in a sense since it is exposed to all kinds of dirt (so I make sure I keep mine in a soap container). However, if your soap container doesn't have holes to drain the water out, the water will really shrink the size of your bar. I wouldn't recommend using this to take off your makeup, especially eye makeup because it will not completely get it off your face (although it does pretty ok with removing eyeshadow). What I usually do is use a makeup remover or wipes to remove any eyemakeup. When I do use mineral makeup, it does a pretty good job in cleaning my face, but I can't say the same thing for liquid foundation (since I don't use liquid foundation). Other than that, I can't think of anything else!

Would I buy it again: YES! I owe it all to this bar of soap. Everytime switch cleansers, I always find myself coming back to this especially when I realized that the new cleanser is breaking me out. Although I'm not breaking out anymore (maybe one or two during the time of the month), I still use this as my preventive acne measure in case my face decides wreck havoc again. I just love, love, love how this makes me face feel and look.

  1. That's great to know you found something to help combat your acne. I've been meaning to try a calamine soap but just can't get away from my Green Tea/Shea Cleanser - bomb, yo! From your thoughts on the Calamine Bar though, it sounds very similar to Green Tea cleanser. Oooh, I'm so crazy off of these natural skincare! We should definitely cult more people into it ;)

Nordstrom Rack has Burberry bags from time to time. I've seen gold shimmery clutches and makeup bags as well. I've even seen a Jimmy Choo bag once!

Hahha Thanks! I agree! My doggies surpass anything in my life =)

Boys are so weird sometimes but the amusement is worth it haha.

  9. Hahaha my doggies make me so happy =P You should consider getting one! If not now, sometime in the future. They're my babies.

And thanks for the review on those OPI pens. I was considering trying one not too long ago. I knew the concept was too good to be true! It's probably only great when you're on the road or traveling.
