Lookbook: Good-bye Summer + Review: ASOS HONOR Two Part High Sandals

Last Friday officially marks the last day of summer and beginning of Fall. I've been over this heat wave that we've been having in SoCal for awhile and have been looking forward to cooler weather mid-way summer. I'm happy that the weather is getting a little cooler which means I can finally wear my Fall clothing which I shopped for a month ago.

For this lookbook, my friend Veronica (VeronicaHeartPhotography blog) helped me with the picture taking. Her camera makes all the difference in the world when it comes to the clarity of the pictures. I'm so glad that she's helping me with my outfit of the days shots when the boyfriend isn't around.

On the way to the park, I thought it was a little weird when there was a downpour of rain for a quick two minutes. For some reason, I've never really experienced that kind of rain. I almost thought that we wouldn't be able to take pictures that day.

Oh, and I finally received my ASOS package after a week of placing my order. Since I only ordered shoes from the website, I found it a little odd that the shoe boxes were all thrown in inside a mailing bag. The shoes were ok, but not so much the shoe boxes. I just thought it was weird that they mailed it like that.

Anyway, I decided to wear one of the three pairs that ordered which were these chunky platform sandals. I was a little surprise on how much compliments I received while wearing these sandals in one day.

Overall Thoughts: The initial reason why I bought these was because it reminded me of the Steve Madden's Grettta Sandals. I wanted a brown version yet a cheaper alternative to the Steve Maddens. These shoes are actually a little shorter when it comes to height of the shoes and has a different cut for the heels compared to the SM (ASOS 4.8 inches heels vs. Steve Madden's 5.25 inches heels). Because of the platform in front, it makes it a little easier to walk in these heels and balancing with them is not so much of an issue. However, the top part of the sandals tend to rub on my skin which can be a little uncomfortable after some time. The quick fix for this is probably putting mole skin inside to prevent chaffing.

The sandals are made out of polyurethane material with a faux suede finish. These would need some caring if you want it to last longer since they can get scratch fairly easily.  As far as the color of the shoes, I really like the light brown color of the sandals more in person compared to the actual picture on the website. I also love the rustic finish of the buckle of the sandals which gives it a very retro feel.

The sandals are very true to size (just based on the sole of my feet, I'm wearing a size six), but I noticed I have to buckle the strap to the last hole so it'll fit around my ankles. Balancing with these shoes were not much of an issue since the platform supports your feet. However, since there are no cushions inside the sandals and the insoles are little hard, I would suggest placing an insole inserts just to make the shoes a little more comfortable if you're planning to walk in them for a long period of time. These definitely need a little breaking-in time for it to be more comfortable to wear.

  1. Great outfit! I know...SoCal weather has been so weird. Cold and gloomy mornings, hot afternoons, and then chilly nights. -sigh-
