March 2017 Bullet Journal Setup

I can't believe we're almost a quarter way done with 2017! With the new month, means it's time to setup my bullet journal. Since March is usually known for St. Patrick's day, I decided that my color theme for the month would be green. Watch the video down below, so you can see how I setup my bullet journal for this month.

What's New in My Bullet Journal?

Brain Dump layout, To Buy log layoutBrain Dump and To Buy Log: I've recently added a brain dump and to buy log section in my Leuchtturm1917 notebook. I've previously just had a brain dump section in my monthly spread, but I found that some tasks that are not that urgent keeps getting carried over the next month. Instead of writing them down every time as I carry them over while I setup my bullet journal for the month, I've created a space where I can simply jot down any tasks or ideas that needs to be done some time in the future. I just need a place to write it down, so I won't forget. Plenty of times if I don't write things down, it gets lost in my head.

My 2017 Work Bullet Journal Setup

minimal bullet journal setup
New year, new bullet journal! I finally caved and decided to get the Leuchtturm1917 dotted notebook for the new year as my new work bullet journal. As I've previously mentioned before, I keep my personal and work bullet journal separate since I don't feel comfortable bringing my thoughts and feelings with me everywhere. I also just want to maintain a level of professionalism in case I need to take down notes during a meeting or class. Not everyone needs to see the doodlings I do on my spare time.

If this is your first time starting a bullet journal, check this video out by Ryder Caroll, inventor of the bullet journal system to get you familiarized with the method. Once the idea has settled, and you're looking to start your own bullet journal, there are plenty of inspirations on YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram for bullet journal spreads, ideas, and collections to help you get started.

DIY Wire Grid Memo Board (EASY)

I've been in the process of decorating and organizing my new filming and office space. I have a few DIY projects that I have in mind, and one of them is this Wire Memo Grid Board that I've seen floating around Pinterest. I've also seen Urban Outfitters sell this wire memo board for $59 (comes in three different colors)!!! Although it is cute and very tumblr looking, it's a little bit too pricey for my liking, so I took matters into my own hands and DIY'd it.

And what do you know... it's probably one of the easiest DIY I've ever made.

10 Tips on How to Tidy the KonMari Way

As I've mentioned in my previous minimalism video (and post), I've been embarking on the minimalism journey to simplify my life (and to do something about my anxiety). One of the books that has impacted me is The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. Marie Kondo created a decluttering system to help you tidy up your home... and keep it that way.

I've been implementing the techniques in her book, as I work on my own clutter. Here are some of the things that I've learned on how to tidy the KonMari way.

Minimalism: Why I started

This is a little bit different than my usual beauty and fashion posts. I have briefly mentioned this topic here on my blog, but this will be the first time where I'm dedicating a post about it. At first, I've translated the concept of minimalism into my wardrobe simply because I liked the aesthetic. And now, minimalism is carrying over into my lifestyle. Never did I think I'd be attempting to live a more simplistic life. I am, in fact, a borderline hoarder and shopaholic. I found joy in buying things. Things that sat in my closet because it was too pretty to use. Until one day, it became a little too overwhelming for me to handle, and it started to put a damper in my life.

48 Hours in New Orleans (Photo and Video Diary)

It's been a month since I was in New Orleans. It was my first time being there, and I didn't know what to expect. I was mainly there for a work trip, but I tried to squeeze some sightseeing while I was there. I pretty much stayed around the French Quarter area, but realized that there were still so many things to do there! I can't wait to be back here again because I know there were a few places that I wanted to check-out that I didn't get the chance to. But for now here are some of the things that I did in New Orleans in 48 hours.

Check out my video diary and recommendations after the jump...

And I'm back at it again with another DIY video! I've been seeing the Chloe Hudson Tassel Bag making its rounds on Instagram and other fashion blogs which inspired me to spruce up my old, plain handbag with some colorful tassels. This DIY is a cute and easy way to add some fun and color to your spring and summer outfit. Also, it gives your old bag a chance to see the light of day again.

March Recap & April Setup Bullet Journal

A new month means a brand new bullet journal spread. See what's currently in my bullet journal for March and April. I hope this will give you some ideas on how you can set your bullet journal up.

MARCH BULLET JOURNAL RECAP

In my first bullet journal post, I shared how I've setup my bullet journal for the month of March (view post here). Here's a quick recap of March with my doodles and writings in it. I'll also share which ones I've decided to keep and change with a brief review of what I thought of the pages in my bullet journal.

1. March Monthly Spread

After realizing that I rarely check or referred to this page, I decided that I will no longer be using this layout for the new month. I found it very hard to read at times and can be a bit crowded for my needs. I also found it very limiting for when I have multiple appointments or events in the day or night. I changed my monthly spread layout for April as seen below.

What is a Bullet Journal & My March Bullet Journal Spreads

Here's a completely different post than my usual beauty and fashion entries. If you've been following me on Twitter or Instagram, you've probably have seen me talk about about my bullet journal. I discovered bullet journaling back in January (watch vlog here), and this has been my way of staying organized ever since. I've watched numerous bullet journal videos on Youtube and have searched bullet journal related hashtags on Instagram to learn more about it. There's also an amazing bullet journal community online that are just full of inspirations and ideas.

What is a Bullet Journal?

If you're not familiar with the bullet journal system, here's a great video explaining the basics of it by the inventor of the system, Ryder Carroll.

A bullet journal is an analog way to stay organized with your tasks. It's also a great tool to plan for the future and keep track of your past. I've always preferred the old fashion pen and paper when it comes to jotting things down. I tend to remember things better when I write them down as opposed to keeping them on my phone. I've always wanted to remember what I did in the past, but didn't want to write a diary entry every single day. So the bullet journal was a quick note-taking method for me to keep a log of things I want to remember. I also found the bullet journal as a great way to plan my days to stay productive.
